We’re going to answer some of the most common questions about vaping a CBD E Liquid, or a CBD vape additive such as YES CBD Pure Addition. Such as:
- What are the best coils to use for vaping CBD?
- How many Watts to use when vaping CBD?
- How many Volts to use when vaping CBD?
- How powerful does my vape need to be?
- What is the best VG/PG ratio to use?
As with anything vaping related much of it comes down to personal preference and the equipment you’re using, however there are some common guidelines that we feel leads to the best CBD vaping experience.
The answer to the questions above is quite simply: a balance of all of them. To get the best CBD vaping experience you need a reasonably powerful device, but not too powerful, a vape that can generate a reasonable cloud with which to hold the CBD vapour. However, too powerful and you risk burning the CBD all together.
So, what is TOO powerful? We recommend our customers use a 0.5 or 0.6 ohm coil, the reason for this is that it allows you to generate a reasonable cloud to hold the CBD, whilst keeping the watts reasonably low.
As a rule of thumb, you should aim for a maximum of 3.74 volts, so when using a 0.5 or 0.6 ohm coil, this is the upper end of 15-25 Watts.
Many users have also reported great results with the SMOK X4 and SMOK M2 coil, as these also allow the user to keep the watts low to avoid burning the CBD. Whatever ohm coil you use, aim to keep the volts below 3.74.
Those of you with 220 Watt mods, keep the power down! Those of you using a reasonably low cost E-Cigarette devices, we would recommend you upgrade to something like the SMOK Brit One Mini if you want an all-in-one vaping device, or perhaps the Aspire Breeze 2 if you don’t mind the reasonably short battery life.
We’ll have a full review and comparison of these 2 devices in the coming weeks, to find out the pros and cons of each when vaping CBD.
So now that you know what the best coils are, vape device, volts and watts for vaping CBD – what is the best VG/PG ratio to use when vaping CBD?
E Liquid is usually made up of a mixture of VG and PG, CBD easily dissolves into PG but VG causes it to crystallise. Too much PG and the CBD vaping experience will be too harsh for most people, too much VG and all your CBD E Liquid will turn to CBD crystals in your tank.
The best VG/PG ratio, for the average user, with a reasonable strength CBD vape juice will be around 50/50. For example, with our Pure Addition 500mg and 1000mg CBD vape additives, we recommend people mix it as follows:
- Take an empty 10ml bottle
- 1 part Pure Addition
- 3 parts your favourite 70/30 (VG/PG) flavoured vape juice
As YES CBD Pure Addition is made with 100% PG, this leaves a resulting solution of 52.5 VG and 47.5 PG – it provides a nice balance for vaping CBD, is not too harsh on the throat and means there should be no crystallisation of the CBD.
When you need to top up your tank, it is important that you fill up with the same mix as above to retain the approximate 50/50 VG/PG ratio in your tank. Just adding regular 70/30 VG/PG would cause the balance to shift with an increase in VG, which might lead to the CBD crystallising in your tank. If the CBD crystallises in your tank, either add some 50/50 VG/PG E Liquid to restore the balance, or even pure PG.
Remember: CBD dissolves in PG, but VG causes it to crystallise. So always keep a 50/50 VG/PG balance in your tank overall.
We hope we’ve answered your main questions about the best way to vape a CBD E Liquid or a CBD Additive for E Liquids such as YES CBD Pure Addition, so to summarise:
- 0.6 ohm coils work best
- Keep the Volts BELOW 3.74, Watts in the region of 15-25 with a 0.6 ohm coil
- If you have a crazy-powerful vape device, the above still applies
- If you have a basic e-cigarette type vape, we recommend you upgrade
- Aim for a CBD solution, i.e the mixture in your tank, with a 50/50 VG/PG ratio
